DetroitHipHop.com was born in 2002 by long time HipHop innovators Money Mic and DJ K-Nice. The site was launched with alot of unique information, content and interaction that set us apart from any other site. Quickly gaining steam once it was introduced to the Detroit HipHop community, this allowed us to expand with new features including exclusive interviews, weekly online song battles known as “King of the Mic Battles” and more. Our site became the mouthpiece for many artists, producers and dj’s to use as a platform to be heard and seen.
Not long after the launch we were able to introduce to the world the official Detroit HipHop Awards. This was an annual awards show that nominated, recognized and awarded artists in and around the city of Detroit for their HipHop accomplishments from the past year. The Detroit HipHop Awards show was hosted at some of the biggest venues in Detroit including: St. Andrews Hall, The Shelter, Second City Theatre inside Hockeytown Cafe and Plan B Nightclub. Our awards were presented to the top local and national artists in a number of categories. In the past we have been involved in booking and overseeing all HipHop acts performing in the Metro Times “Hamtramck Blowout” We have represented producers and artists who have been featured on various MTV and VH1 shows such as “Yo Momma” and “Run’s House”. Plus many more contributions for so many members of Detroit HipHop. We live for this!
After a complete revamp and overhaul of Detroithiphop.com, we are back and stronger than ever.
We thank everyone for their support over the years and look forward to helping grow, build and advance Detroit HipHop (local and national) for the entire world to experience and enjoy.
